Mohammad Rizuan

Managing Partner, Emerald Law

Rizuan is the Managing Partner of Emerald Law and graduated from the University of Manchester. He was active in SMSO since its early days and served as the Vice President of the organisation in 2014 and subsequently as President from 2015 to 2017.

He trained at B. Rao & K.S. Rajah under Mr Fazal Mohamed before he was called to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor. 

He thereafter practised for some time at a mid-sized law firm before returning to B Rao & K.S. Rajah which has since been renamed, Emerald Law.

Rizuan has a keen interest in Family Law and Muslim Law related matters.

Muslihah Mujtaba

Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London

BA (Hons) Theatre Practice – Technical and Production Management

Muslihah Mujtaba (Lili) trained in Technical and Production Management at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London. She was active in the SMSO London Chapter between 2015 – 2019.
Lili is currently a Production Manager, Stage Manager and an Arts Educator. Some of her recent production credits include managing Inside Voices – Vault Festival, London (2019), Wan Belantara – Singapore M1 Fringe Festival (2021) and the Hari Raya Light-Up (2021) organised by People’s Association (PA). She is an active member of award-winning Malay performing arts company, Sri Warisan Som Said Performing Arts Ltd and had a brief stint at Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT), as part of their residency programme. She believes that the arts not only act as a platform for catharsis, but also unite people of all ages and backgrounds.

Siti Nurnadhirah

Cognitive Neuroscience PhD

I research on the recollection of our memories for personally experienced events. I was from Madrasah Al-Maarif and did my Human Sciences BSc at UCL. I then pursued a PhD at the same university with funding from A*STAR. My undergrad years were tough personally and financially so I relate a lot with people who struggle to be away from their family and afford the costs of studying in the UK. But Alhamdulillah if you persevere (and it’s not easy I know), things do get better!

Anwar Abdulhaqq

SOAS, University of London

BA (Hons) Economics & Middle Eastern Studies

Current Designation: UX Researcher, Wise (formerly Transferwise)

Anwar graduated with a BA (Hons) Economics & Middle Eastern Studies from SOAS, University of London in 2016, and was the President of the London Chapter of SMSO.

Whilst at university, he got the chance to do internships, language immersions and volunteering in various countries, including Egypt, Turkey, China and India. Since then, he has remained in the UK to build his career.

He is currently a UX Researcher at fintech company, Wise. Prior to that, he was a Management Consultant at Accenture, where he worked with the UK Government, and FTSE 100 companies like Shell, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, and British Telecom (BT). Additionally, Anwar also had experience with the likes of PwC and Royal Bank of Scotland (now NatWest), and served as a Commissioned Officer in the Singapore Armed Forces.

Adilah Azil

University of Liverpool, London School of Economics, College of Law

Bachelor of Laws, MSc Law and Accounting, MSc Law, Business and Management

Adilah is a lawyer in an international firm known as one of the five Magic Circle firms in the UK. She also sits in the executive committee of her firm’s global Islamic Community and is a reverse mentor to leaders within the firm. Adilah had also previously drafted a report on the Human-Trafficking and Libyan Refugee Crisis, appearing in the African Court of Human Rights and the East African Court of Justice.

Khairul Ikhmal

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), London School of Economics

Mechanical Engineering, Strategic Management

After spending some years in the working sector, Khairul returned to school in 2016 and completed his Bachelors in Engineering with a First Class Honours. He was a recipient of the prestigious QMUL International Scholarship and attained a distinction in his strategic management programme. He is currently working in data analytics full time. 

Nabillah Jalal

Royal College of Music

Born and raised in Singapore, music educator and pianist Nabillah Jalal graduated in 2016 with Honours from the Royal College of Music in London majoring in Piano Performance. The first Malay Singaporean to study at the Royal College of Music, Nabillah received the prestigious Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award (Distinction) in 2011 and is a recipient of the Live It Up Bursary. Her education is also supported by Trailblazer Foundation Ltd and the Bukit Timah Community Centre. 

In 2018, Nabillah launched NJ Studio, a boutique piano school (@thenjstudio) that focuses on 1-to-1 lessons with a unique narrative-based teaching approach.

Nabillah is also an active volunteer with the National Youth Council, Mendaki and also spearheads some of her own initiatives that she shares on her social media.

Amirah Murat

Cardiff University, BEng (Hons) Medical Engineering

Current Designation: Research Engineer, Singapore General Hospital.

Affaf graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Medical Engineering from Cardiff University in the year 2018, and was part of SMSO Executive Committee between the year 2018 and 2021. She was formerly a Research Assistant at NTU, managing a research study involving the development of a prototype model of the cardiovascular (heart) system for education and teaching purposes. Due to her profound interest in the medical research field, particularly in the musculoskeletal system, she decided to join SGH as a Research Engineer in the Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery in the year 2021.Currently, Affaf is assisting with clinical research studies that are primarily focusing on patients undergoing total knee replacement, hip replacement, and Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) surgeries. Her current career growth was particularly inspired by her educational journey back in Cardiff.

Dan Anuar

University of Surrey, MSc in Air Transport Management

Current Designation: Senior Commercial Product Specialist, British Airways.

Dan graduated from the University of Surrey with an MSc in Air Transport management in 2022. Kicked off his career at British Airways as a Product Owner (Business Products & Programmes) in 2023 and did a 6-month internship at Lufthansa in the Products and Programmes team in 2019-2020.
